Moroccan Arabic Consonant Clusters Resulting From Negation as an Exception to Benhallam’s SSAA: An Optimality-Theoretic Account

چکیده
This article examines the status of consonant cluster resulting after concatenation discontinuous plural morpheme ma…….∫. In disconformity with Benhallam’s Syllable structure Assignment Algorithm (henceforth SSAA) which predicts that every succession consonants is resolved in MA by inserting schwa to break hiatus, abovementioned morphological operation does not permit epenthesis. As such, it imperative account for final and incorporate them into syllable language. The claim this inserted here as ∫ negative assigned an appendix moraless. So, cannot make a mora combination moraless schwa. analysis couched within framework Optimality Theory (OT). More specifically, constraints interact seeming ad hoc are both faithfulness markedness constraints. It argued some faithfuness well interacting each other responsible existence such clusters.

Optimality Theoretic Account of Acquisition of Consonant Clusters of English Syllables by Persian EFL Learners*
This study accounts for the acquisition of the consonant clusters of English syllable structures both in onset and coda positions by Persian EFL learners. Persian syllable structure is "CV(CC)", composed of one consonant at the initial position and two optional consonants at the final position; whereas English syllable structure is "(CCC)V(CCCC)". Therefore, Persian EFL learners need to resolve...
متن کاملConsonant Acquisition in Taiwanese: A Functional Optimality-Theoretic Account
This is a case study of a child acquiring Taiwanese as her first language, attempting to model the phonological error patterns as well as output variation based on an optimality-theoretic (hereafter OT) analysis for her initial consonant acquisition. Driven by the fact that children usually do not produce one single output form that is identical to adults’, and the rule-based approach would fur...
متن کاملan optimality-theoretic account of dissimilation in persian
this paper provides an optimality-theoretic account of dissimilation in standard persian as well as some other accents and dialects of persian. as such, this work starts by introducing optimality theory (henceforth ot) and its basic concepts and then it investigates dissimilation in this framework. it argues for the superiority of ot over derivational approaches regarding a case in which both d...
متن کاملan optimality –theoretic account of changing /u/ to [i] in silakhori dialect
the changing of round and back vowel /u/ to unround and front vowel [i] occurs in lori dialects as well as some other persian dialects. this vowel change includes both unrounding and fronting. this paper aimed at coming up with an inclusive ranking of constraints to explain occurrence and nonoccurrence of this vowel change in various phonological environments in silahkori dialect within optimal...
متن کاملAn Optimality Theoretic Account of Nasal Assimilation in English
This paper reconsiders nasal assimilation in English within the framework of Optimality Theory and shows that the phenomena can be accounted for in a natural way in terms of some ranked violable constraints. In so doing, I also argue against an account based on structural interpretations of faithfulness, and propose that identity relation between input and output, i.e., correspondence, provides...
